ALS Program

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) at Pitogo High School is a special program under the Department of Education designed to provide access to education for out-of-school youth and adults who were unable to complete their formal basic education. Through ALS, learners are given a second chance to learn and achieve their educational goals in a flexible, practical, and learner-centered way.

Program Features

  • Flexible Learning – Lessons are delivered through modular instruction, learning sessions, and community-based activities that fit the schedules of working students, parents, or adults.
  • Basic Education Equivalency – ALS covers both the Elementary and Junior High School levels, allowing learners to take the Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test. Passing the test grants a certificate equivalent to a high school diploma, enabling them to pursue senior high school, college, or vocational training.
  • Skills Development – Beyond academics, ALS integrates life skills, livelihood skills, and values formation, helping learners become self-reliant, employable, and active members of the community.
  • Inclusivity – The program welcomes diverse learners, including out-of-school youth, adult workers, persons with disabilities, and parents who wish to continue their studies.

Our Commitment

At Pitogo High School, the ALS Program embodies our mission to make education accessible to all. With the guidance of dedicated ALS teachers and community learning facilitators, learners are empowered to overcome challenges, continue their studies, and open doors to better opportunities.
